I´d like to show you a little bit of two very old stories
which were a big inspiration for people all over the world...
alice in wonderland
the novel was written in 1865 by the english author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Caroll
I`m sure you all know the story of the little girl Alice, falling down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world?
the wonderful wizard of oz
also a novel for children - most famous - written by L. Frank Baum in the year 1900
the wizard of oz which has been adapted into several differnt works, the most famous version was produced in 1939 with Judy Garland as Dorothy
I have chosen these two stories, because for me they have a lot of magic - magical stories - building the fantasy of children...
tradition & custom
my next inspiration is the village I´m from - the village of witches...
here is a video about traditions and customs
- our carnival and the "Krampeler Umzug"
medusa
she was the grandchild of earth & ozean. Medusa was the only mortal out of three sisters. once she was very beautiful and lived far in the north, were the sun didn`t shine. she wanted to see the sun & ask Athena for permission to visit the south. Athena refused to allow her to visit. Medusa got angry. unfortunately Athena was angry too. she turned her hair into snakes and made her so ugly, that everyone looking in her eyes - turns into stone...
my first connection to medusa were the nightmares I had after I`ve seen the film as a child. I was afraid of the snakes she had instead of hair
witches??
furthermore I asked myself who these witches and wizards are? isn`t there a little witch or wizard in anyone of us? isn`t the magic everywhere in the air? personally I do not believe in witchcraft or sorcery in the conventional sense...
they say: a witch has magical power - is mostly female - in christianity a witch is often named in the context of demons or the devil. in the time where witches were burned men and women were both called witches, today the word witch is used for women while wizard applies more to men
the dragonfly
what I`m thinking about dragonflies - magical. it`s characterized by large multifacted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings and an elongated body. dragonflies posses six legs - like any other insect. they are also characterized by an exceptional flying machine. they can move their pair of wings independently. it enables them to stay in the air or fly backwards. about 4700 species are known.
their name could be the evidence that they really look like little dragons from fairytales...built magic
